Getting started responsibly
20 minutes
What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an AI assistant that produces responses based on user input. Its responses can be useful but may include mistakes or outdated information. Treat its answers as drafts to inspect, not automatic facts.
Practice: Write down two appropriate uses and one situation requiring human expert review.
Privacy and safe use
Avoid entering passwords, financial account numbers, confidential client records, or private health information. Review the privacy settings and policies of any AI service before using it for work.
Practice: Rewrite a sample request so that it contains no real names or private records.
Write better prompts
30 minutes
A simple prompt framework
A clear prompt states the task, audience, context, constraints and desired format. Example: 'Write a friendly 80-word product description for a neighborhood bakery. Use simple English and avoid making health claims.'
Practice: Draft a prompt using all five parts.
Improve results through iteration
Review the output for completeness, style, fairness and correctness. Then give specific feedback, such as 'Use three shorter sentences and include one example.'
Practice: Revise one response twice and compare its clarity.

Workplace and education applications
Try outlining a study schedule, preparing interview questions, or drafting a customer reply. Verify important facts with reliable sources and make the final decision yourself.
Practice: Draft a three-day study plan and revise it based on realistic available time.
Final mini-project
Create a useful prompt, record an example response, check two factual claims, and write a short reflection about corrections made.
Practice: Submit a prompt, a revised response and a 100-word reflection.
Practice quiz
Select one answer for each question. This is a browser-only self-check, not Academy course credit.
Final mini-project
Create a helpful prompt, improve the response and write a short reflection on the accuracy checks you performed.
Submissions will be enabled only after integration with Academy enrollment and mentor review.
